Open Up Your Child’s World–Together with SJI

We know that early identification and intervention is critical to giving children with hearing loss a lifetime of hearing and a voice for the future.  Early intervention services are especially important because they lay the foundation for future language development.

As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher.  That is why our auditory-oral programs are grounded in the educational partnership between parents and professionals, and the role each play in your child’s learning to listen and speak.

Our early intervention program provides:

  • Early sound and language stimulation necessary for children from birth to 36 months to develop: listening, speech, language and cognitive skills, and to support and empower families to work as advocates for their children.
  • Individualized, weekly or monthly, one-hour sessions for children and their families with specially-trained speech-language pathologists and teachers of the deaf in their home or other natural environment. Session goals: to teach parents how to help improve their child’s listening and language skills.
  • Parent playgroups and integrated toddler classes for children age two to three where they receive intensive language stimulation through play in natural, small group settings while continuing to meet for private therapy sessions.
