Our very own Teri Ouellette, SJI President, had a busy service weekend at AG Bell, Deaf Education’s premier gathering for those affected by hearing loss. After handing off her gavel after two years of service to the Academy Friday night, Teri received an award for her role in assisting the Academy in moving forward during her Board Service. Her contributions over two years included strengthening the regulations required for obtaining LSLS licensure, helping mentors and mentees locate one another and standardizing observation hours.  Best part of the award? One of her daughters, also in the field of Deaf Education, was on hand to witness the presentation along with her friends, colleagues and SJI staff.  Teri, who was completely unaware of the presentation, was clearly shocked by the honor. “I was both surprised and honored. It has been my great pleasure to work with such a wonderful group of international professionals. Stop by my office to see the award: a brick from the original Volta Bureau Building! How neat is that!” ‪

Congratulations and thank you for serving the field so well.
