St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf (SJI) is a leader in providing listening and spoken language services to children and families. We collaborate with local schools, state agencies, and both local and national organizations to offer highly specialized services to Indiana families.
Indiana Services
-
SJI offers in-home early intervention Listening and Spoken Language services through Indiana First Steps and the CDHHE Network, available in person or via iHear tele-practice.
-
SJI offers weekly parent-and-me classes where parents practice using specific auditory-verbal strategies guided by a certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS).
-
By partnering with Indiana school districts, SJI offers full-time and part-time preschool and primary school auditory-verbal education for children using Listening and Spoken Language.
-
SJI Mainstream Specialists train and support professionals working with students using hearing technology and spoken language. They assess student needs, develop goals, and provide services for auditory, social, self-advocacy, and academic skills. These services are available both in person and via iHear tele-practice.
-
SJI hosts bi-monthly virtual Parent Education sessions and monthly play groups for SJI families.
