100 Holes West - JFG

Johnson Financial Group “100 Holes for Hearing – West” to benefit infants with hearing loss

The Early Infant Program at SJI, developed by S. Arline in 1982, pioneered the current nationwide system for children with challenges and early diagnoses. Observing older children as they struggled to learn to listen, S. Arline theorized if children began services as infants, they would progress sooner and attend mainstream school by 5 years of age. Her theory was correct and paved the way for nationwide coverage of services for children 0 – 3 years with at-home therapy, teaching parents how to help their child.

“100 Holes for Hearing” is the brainchild of a board member who wanted to do more for kids. He knew that children (and their families) may not have the means to pay for services and created a marathon golf tournament to ensure every child, everywhere would get help. More than 26 years later, 100 Holes has raised more than $1m and involves hundreds of volunteers, golfers, and entire families as they run up their scorecards. It’s not unusual for the top player to hit 200+ holes in a single day.

JFG 100 Holes West” is our first event outside St. Louis. Nick Tabor, pictured left, is a JFG Investment Operations Analyst and attended SJI’s infant program. His parents learned Listening and Spoken Language (LSL) techniques from S. Arline to help him after an early diagnosis of hearing loss. Nick continued to college at Rockhurst and into his current career in Financial Management.
