LINDY POWELL JOINS ST. JOSEPH INSTITUTE AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – INDIANAPOLIS
I am so pleased Lindy has accepted the position of Executive Director! I cannot imagine anyone better suited in background, skills, and character. Her enthusiasm and passion for the field are unparalleled. I am confident the children, staff, and program at St. Joseph will grow under her leadership.
Lindy transitioned into the Executive Director role at SJI on July 1, 2021. She previously served as the Director of Education at the Texas Hearing Institute (formerly The Center for Hearing and Speech) in Houston, TX and currently serves as adjunct faculty for the Deaf Education and Hearing Sciences (DEHS) program at UT Health San Antonio. She has a bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education and Special Education from Ball State University and a master’s degree in Reading Development from University of St. Thomas Houston. Lindy holds teaching certifications in Deaf Education and English as a Second Language.
July 2017, Lindy received her Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS) certification as an Auditory-Verbal Educator (AVEd). She served as Board Secretary of OPTION Schools, Inc. from July 2018 – July 2020 and has presented nationally on the topics of early intervention and preschool inclusion.
We are extremely fortunate that Lindy has chosen our program to help lead us forward. Her extensive experience in Early Intervention and Preschool inclusion, combined with her familiarity with academia, will provide opportunities for future growth of our programs. We look forward to her energy, positive presence, and deep commitment to children with hearing loss and their families. Please join me in welcoming Lindy to the SJID family!
