• Go on a fall walk—each child can have their own bag to collect outdoor treasures such as: leaves, sticks, berries, nuts, pinecones and more. When returning from the walk, you can sort the items by object, size and color.
  • Leaf song—(sung to the tune of Farmer in the Dell) “The leaves are falling down, the leaves are falling down, Red, yellow, green and brown, the leaves are falling down.”
  • Paint with leaves, acorns, sticks, corn on the cob and berries—Use a lid from a box and place a sheet of paper inside the lid—pour/squeeze a small amounts of red/yellow/orange/brown paint on the paper, then let your child roll the items in the paint
  • Fun with Leaves focusing on action words: raking, jumping, throwing , kicking and hiding
  • Go to a pumpkin patch/farm—pick pumpkins, apples, ride on a pony, go on a hayride and see animals
  • Pumpkin activities:
    *paint a pumpkin
    *decorate a pumpkin with stickers
    *carve a pumpkin—scoop out the seeds and make a face—focus on body parts—eyes and nose using shapes—circles, squares or triangles and happy, sad or angry for the mouth
    *Baking—pumpkin seeds, pumpkin cookies and pumpkin pie
  • Apple activities:
    *make caramel apples and use different toppings—chocolate chips, sprinkles, Rice Krispies, nuts, graham cracker or cookie crumbs—If your child doesn’t like caramel, use peanut butter or honey.
    *Paint with apples—slice an apple in half make apple stamps using red, green and yellow paint
    *make applesauce
    *Apple poem—Two little apples, high in the tree, One for you and one for me. I shook that tree as hard as I could, And down came the apples, Mmmm they were good!
    Use tongs to pick up little apples and pumpkins, taking them out of one plastic container and putting them into another container. Focus on in/out and labeling items—apple and pumpkin
  • Make bird feeders using pinecones, peanut butter and birdseed
    (if you don’t have pinecones, then cut a bagel in half)
